Kingsoft (3888.HK) booked net profit of RMB 69.1 million in the three months ended September 30, 2009, representing a decrease of 28% quarter-on-quarter or 33% year-on-year, the company announced November 26. Revenue increased by 3% sequentially and 13% year-on-year to RMB 246.1million, of which the entertainment segment contributed RMB 162.8 million, up 3% quarter-on-quarter and 9% year-on-year. The company reported daily average peak concurrent users (PCU) over the quarter of 1.06 million, an increase of 11% against the prior quarter and 7% compared with the year-ago period, which the company attributed to the commercial launch of its in-house developed 3D martial arts MMORPG JX Online 3 and the launch of 2D MMORPG JX Online World in Vietnam. Kingsoft also recorded a monthly average revenue per paying user of RMB 35, down 13% year-on-year and 10% quarter-on-quarter. Kingsoft announced a new charging model for JX Online 3 on November 25, the same day as reports said the company's co-operation talks with Shanda (Nasdaq:SNDA) and The9 (Nasdaq:NCTY) had broken down.
